Bridal Shower Gift Idea: Wine Basket With Poems

love parties. And I love love. So what’s the best kind of party? Anything related to weddings!

(Plus, the sweet treats that you get to make and eat are a nice bonus.)

I had so much fun planning a bridal shower for my friend Mal as we celebrated her upcoming wedding to Brian. Spoiler alert: it was a wonderful day and you can read more at:

In addition to the four dozen cupcakes — can you believe I didn’t even eat one before the party? — I teamed up with my cousins Sarah and Denise to put together a really fun gift, and it would be so easy for you to create and personalize for your own special bride!

It’s a wine basket, and since I’d received one at my own bridal shower and loved it, I knew Mal would appreciate it as well.

Together, we picked out eight bottles of wine and liquor and then I put everything together in the basket (with an assist from Cody).

It’s really easy to put together the basket and of course, you can add your own personal touches. But here’s what I did.

Buy 8 bottles of alcohol (or as many as you want, and you could even pick non-alcoholic bottles if your bride doesn’t drink).

The bottles are supposed to be opened at special occasions like:

  • Wedding Night
  • First Anniversary
  • First Dinner Party
  • The Birth of the First Baby

but again, you can have some fun with this, especially if you know the couple well and they have some of their own big milestones ahead.

Type up and print a poem for each bottle.

We used the poems from this site, except we replaced the New Year’s Eve bottle with a custom “While You Wait” bottle so she had one to drink sooner.

Once mine were typed up, I printed them out on some brown cardstock, cut them out with decorative scissors, and tied each one onto its bottle with blue ribbon. I also added a little extra ribbon around the basket and used some filler paper to fill up the inside of the basket.

(After I took this picture, I went back and re-tied the ribbon into bows.)

That’s it! I know it almost doesn’t even deserve a true tutorial, but people really seem to love this idea and I wanted to share how I’d put this one together.

If you need more inspiration, I’ve put together a Pinterest board with great bridal shower gifts, party planning ideas, sweet treats and more.
