This five-day festival, each marked with different poojas (prayers) and rituals, and people send Diwali wishes Diwali messages to each other to show their love and kindness.
The most famous and grand festival of lights in the World, Diwali is celebrated to honor the victory of good over evil.
The main day of the festival of Diwali is an official holiday in Fiji, Guyana, India, Malaysia (except Sarawak), Mauritius, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.
This festival varies from state to state throughout India. Like in North India this festival celebrates the return of Lord Rama and Mata Sita from the Vanvas after the victory on evil Ravana.
The day when Lord Ram defeated Ravan with the help of Lord Hanuman and rescue the Mata Sita from the Ashok Vatika is celebrated as Dussehra. In South India, the festival is related to the defeat of the demon Narakasura, Know as Deepavali.
There might be different traditions rituals to celebrate the Diwali festival but the main aim of the festival is to bring happiness, time for introspection, to contemplate and dispel our own darkness and take away the sorrows. Let light shine within yourself, and also shine this light outwards.
The festival is celebrated every year with great spirit and enthusiasm. All the houses, shops, and streets light up making the place look so beautiful likes a Jugnu in the sky.
However, this year due to the COVID-19 impact: would create the best of time or worst of time this Diwali 2021 people and many businesses are worried whether it’s going to be the best season of this year or not.

This year Diwali 2021 falls on Thursday, November 4th 2021 (4/11/2021) followed by 5 Days which ends on Saturday, November 6th 2021 (6/11/2021).
Every year Diwali falls in either October or November, depending on the cycle of the moon. It’s observed on the 15th day of Kartik, the holiest month in the Hindu calendar.

- Day 2- Choti Diwali (Wednesday- November 3, 2021)
- Day 3 – Lakshmi Puja/Kali Puja (Thursday- November 4, 2021)
- Day 4 – Govardhan Puja (Friday- November 5, 2021)
- Day 5 – Bhai Dooj/Vishwakarma Puja ( Saturday- November 6, 2021)

First Day of Diwali Festival – Dhanteras (Tuesday- November 2, 2021)
The first day of Diwali is marked as Dhanteras ( Dhanatrayodashi or Dhanvantari Trayodashi) – “Dhan” means wealth and “Teras” is the 13th day of a lunar fortnight on the Panchanga.
God of Wealth Kubera, worshipped to wealth, and prosperity. Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped on Dhanteras.
Many believe on this day the goddess of prosperity and wealth Mata Laxmi was born. People clean their houses to welcome the Maa Laxmi. It is considered to be auspicious to buy Gold, Silver, Kitchen Utensils, Gadget.

Second Day of Diwali- Choti Diwali (Wednesday- November 3, 2021)
Naraka Chaturdasi is celebrated because on this day the Lord Shri Krishna killed the demon Narakasur. Naraka Chaturdashi is falls on Chaturdashi of the Krishna Paksha in the Vikram Samvat Hindu calendar month of Kartik.
We get up before the sunrise takes a holy bath and wear new clothes to perform morning religious rituals and festivities follow on.
Rangoli is created in doorways to welcome happiness and remove the evil spirits.

Third Day of Diwali – Lakshmi Puja/Kali Puja (Thursday- November 4, 2021)
The third day of Diwali is considered to have the main eve of the Diwali festival. The third day gives Diwali the name of “Festival of Lights” because everywhere your eyes go you’ll see the Diyas, Kandil, Colourful lightning, etc..
The Darkest Day of the month new moon day known as Amavasya is the most significant day of this five-day festival.
Families gather together to worship the Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh puja to welcome the goddess of wealth, fortune, prosperity to enter in there home. In the Western part of India – West Bengal, Odisha, and Assam, people worship the Goddess of Sakti Maa Kali.
Mothers share their Diwali Sweet to the neighbour and vice versa. Childer are eagerly waiting for the firecracker and gifts from their parents.

Govardhan puja is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm in the states of Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. In Gujarat, it’s celebrated as the start of a new year.
Bali Pratipada (Bali Padyami) is celebrated in the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, the victory of Lord Krishna over demon king Bali.

Fifth Day of Diwali- Bhai Dooj/Vishwakarma Puja (Saturday- November 6, 2021)

Brothers promise to protect them in all situations. Sisters and brothers shares there love for each other and makes the bond strong.
