when do you have the rehearsal dinner?

I have scheduled wedding rehearsal dinners two weeks in advance of the wedding and I have scheduled rehearsal breakfasts six hours before the wedding BUT most of the rehearsal dinners or parties take place one or two days before the wedding.

The meal associated with a rehearsal can be a breakfast, lunch or dinner. I’ve organized rehearsal breakfasts at 9AM . . rehearsal lunches at 1PM . . and rehearsal pizza parties at 9PM, and that’s because not everyone will be available at 6PM the night before the wedding.

Traditionally, the rehearsal dinner or party is hosted (planned, organized and paid for) by the Groom’s parents. If the Groom’s parents are unable to do so then a friend or relative may offer to host the dinner or party. Neither the Bride nor the Bride’s parents should host the rehearsal dinner or party unless there are no other alternatives. The menu, the theme, and the location of the rehearsal meal should be just the opposite of the wedding day theme, menu and location (the two events should not have any similarities).
