Why Send a Friend a Card?
We all get so busy with our lives that it can be easy to forget to check in with friends and other loved ones, especially if they don’t live nearby. Imagine getting a piece of mail from a friend for no particular reason other than that they wanted you to know you are cared about—it would mean so much! Even messages sent in an electronic format can light up someone’s day.
Life can be discouraging sometimes, and each of us has our own share of trials and difficulties. Sending a friend a thoughtful card can help lighten their emotional load. It’s one of the easiest ways to invest in one of life’s greatest treasures.
Below are some examples of uplifting lines you can include in a card for a friend. Even if you don’t use one of these ideas, perhaps they will inspire your own unique greeting. Even if you’re writing to a brand new friend you’ve just made, nothing beats putting some positive thoughts out there into the world. The best part is that kindness and caring have the potential to become a bit contagious! A simple card or letter can do so much good.
Oh, and for all the crafters out there that love to rubber stamp or watercolor cards—this article is for you! Get creative with it and let someone know you really care about them today.

What Is International Friendship Day?
International Friendship Day is celebrated annually on July 30th. The origin of the special occasion is unclear; some claim that it started in Paraguay in the 1950s, while others assert that it was birthed by Hallmark, a greeting-card company, in 1919.
Whatever the case may be, Friendship Day is now celebrated worldwide and has become more popular than ever due to social media. While any time is a good time to write a card or letter to a cherished friend, Friendship Day provides a welcome reminder to check in with those we care about.
I just love this piece of art and how the artist depicts a friendship between a woman and her dog. It is so beautiful.

Hello Peggy, thank you for your words. I think it would be wonderful if more people actually wrote on paper cards and sent them in the mail. As for myself, I am trying to do that more and more, and really the effort is not all that great, and yet can bring such joy. I appreciate your comment.

Those are lovely suggestions and any friend would truly appreciate receiving a card like that with those types of sentiments. This may encourage more people to actually write and send cards in the mail.

Hello Mary, you touch on a great point about online greetings that people send. Those are nice to get as well, and people hardly send even those anymore. I like to get them myself and send some myself, but I really like the the paper cards the most.

Thank you, Devika. You are so right about modern technology and writing cards or notes. I have been trying to write more and send more items in the mail. I received some feedback just today about a card I sentn and how encouraging it was to someone! That really made my day.

Thank you, Kari. I am so glad you think so! I agree, about the snail mail. It is a wonderful thing!

These are all lovely suggestions. I think sending a card through snail mail is a wonderful thought. 🙂

I haven’t sent a friendship card out in a while, you make want to do that. Friendship cards need careful thought when writing one and you explained clearly. I understand that modern technology has stopped us from sending cards out to our friends or loved ones.

It is nice to receive cards once in a while not just greetings online. These are great suggestions of what to say.
