What to do for Valentine’s Day in New York City

Window displays are flooded with pinks and reds, Cupid cuts dangle from the ceiling, and Reese’s hearts are back in stock… which means Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Whether you’re spending the day with beloved friends, pals, or single, Rockefeller Center can keep you entertained throughout the day.

From plant-based chocolates and pink doughnuts to mulled wine specials, here’s how to enjoy the perfect New York City Valentine’s Day without leaving the downtown campus.

Find it on The Rink level at 30 Rockefeller Plaza

Don’t let the name fool you, Café Grumpy will cheer you up in no time. Start your day on the right foot with a $2 heartbreaking espresso, or grab a discounted bag of heartbreaking beans for that special, caffeine-loving person.

Now that you’re awake, it’s time to…

10:15am: Picking some stalks in Raaka

Stay on the level of The Rink at 30 Rockefeller Plaza

Raaka’s NYBG + Stems Valentine’s Day Gift Set is the perfect gift for a lock. Created in collaboration with the New York Botanical Garden, this botanical collection includes three chocolate bars inspired by floral aromas and flavors. For Valentine’s Day, Raaka also paired a special chocolate with a dry bouquet from Stems for $60. Orders are available for pickup between February 9th and 14th.

And some other last minute gifts…

Whether perusing for yourself or a loved one, shopping at Rockefeller Center is as varied as the city. Try on pieces from Eva Fehren’s dazzling diamond collection, or wear Ryan Roche’s romantic knitwear.

On Thursday, February 10, Eva Fehren will be full of love. Stop by the engagement pop-up to try on rings, wedding rings, and sip some sparkling wine with the founder himself.

If all the shopping is an appetite…

12:15pm: Three-course prix fixe menu at Lodi

You don’t have to go far to find Lodi, it’s at 1 Rockefeller Plaza

Food is said to be a universal language of love, and if that’s true, there’s no better time to indulge yourself. This Valentine’s Day, Lodi will be offering a three-course menu featuring oysters, homemade tortellini, passion fruit and a white chocolate dessert you’ll be dreaming of for weeks to come.

For those with a sweet tooth…

1:30pm: Grab a Dough x Raaka Valentine’s Day Treat

2 minutes walk to Dough at 10 Rockefeller Plaza

It’s not Valentine’s Day without a lot of candy. This year, ditch the chocolate box for donuts. Dough and Raaka teamed up to create a homemade strawberry jam donut and a heart-shaped Beignet coated in Raaka strawberry swirl crust. But you must visit on February 14; these treats are only available on the big day.

It’s time for some fresh air…

2:30pm: Go to Tiffany

Go to Straits Gardens

Put on your Holly Golightly and head to Channel Gardens for a special Tiffany & Co. experience. From noon to 5 p.m., Tiffany’s will be giving away free flowers and hosting outdoor group photos. Take your photo with a backdrop designed by a professional lighting artist and admire the iconic facade of 30 Rock, which will be lit in Tiffany blue.

4:00 pm: Enjoy a winter sunset and Art Nouveau installation at Top of the Rock

Find it less than a block away on 50th Street, between 5th and 6th avenues

Top of the Rock is one of the best places to shoot in a wide city. From now until March 13, visitors can not only enjoy the sweeping views, but also experience a new interactive art installation. Created by artists Kris Moran and Martin Duffy, BUILDINGS AND BLOCKS includes three 23-foot towers and 37 black-and-white striped blocks inspired by the panoramic vistas of the observation deck.

And limit the rest of the day…

5:30pm: Unwind with City Winery’s passion fruit mulled wine

Short walk to City Winery on the plaza between 50th and 51st Streets and 5th and 6th Avenues

After a busy day of sightseeing, shopping and snacks, you can gain a foothold in City Winery’s outdoor pop-up wine garden. Sip from the winery’s curated menu or choose a Valentine’s Day-themed passion fruit mulled wine to keep your hands (and heart) warm.
