Whether it’s a lavish weekend or just some alone time together, it’s good to have a place to go out without having to cook for yourself.

If you’re not sure where to go or what to do, we’ve put together a list with three suggestions – one for every price range.

Romantic vibes aren’t just about interior design. Somewhere, welcoming staff, mouth-watering food, and satisfied diners work wonders in the romance department.

Of course, now you might also want a sweet backdrop for a couple photo shoot for your Instagram post that night, but don’t worry, because these venues have it all.

Luxury Choice (£££)

For the grandest of diners, there must be a venue that exudes class, with a superb wine list and fine dining.

There’s no better place than The Great House in historic Lavenham, which has won culinary awards for its fine French cuisine and vows to amaze you with impeccable customer service.

This stunning 14th century building will transport you from the medieval town of Suffolk to the French countryside, from the moment you step into a unique dining experience.

This award-winning restaurant offers couples a bespoke five-course dinner over Valentine’s Weekend, with the option to spend the night in one of its deluxe rooms.

Dinner for two costs £85 each and Chef Swann will prepare a storm to celebrate the love.

The five courses include: Scallops with Beetroot Salad, Creamy Fish Sauce and Creamy Fish Sauce, Beef Tenderloin with Peanut Butter, Caramelized Apples with Caramel Sauce, and finally Dark Chocolate Mouse with Maldon Salt Brownies and Ice Cream.

The mouthwatering menu is available on Friday the 11th and Saturday the 12th. The latter was fully booked, but the restaurant said it was worth calling to check for any cancellations.

The perfect middle ground (££)

Woodbridge’s kitchen exudes the type of romance you’d see in chick movies like “Holiday” or “Bridget Jones,” and its trademark is “informal cuisine.”

Perched on top of the market in the quaint riverside town, this family-run restaurant is painted a vibrant dark pink, with turquoise window sills and door frames.

Ed Sheeran has visited the venue and the restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine with a large menu of locally sourced seafood.

The vibe is friendly, and chef and customer Ugur is passionate about everything this place has to offer, including the extensive wine list.

Open for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays from 6 p.m. with a sample menu featuring delicious dishes such as: Oyster Mushrooms and Toasted Almonds with Mustard Sauce in a Pastry Box, or Levantine-Style Cauliflower with Turmeric and Cooked coriander seeds, drizzled with tahini, lime, garlic, olive oil and pomegranate.

This is a great choice for the mid-range, starting at £8 for starters, £22 for mains and £8 for desserts.

A stroll on the town’s cobblestones or around the harbour – weather permitting – will be a romantic way to end the night.

Good does not necessarily mean expensive (£)

Not everyone wants to burn a hole in their pocket on Valentine’s Day, but they may still want to go out and celebrate with their partner.

Afterwards, for a fun-filled and romantic evening on the waterfront, head to Felixstowe’s Beach Street, which has several incredible but inexpensive eateries to suit your tastes.

Opened in late 2020, the trendy Container Market is now a hub of shops and restaurants, brightly lit and just metres from the beach.

Pick your dinner from Hank’s Dirty, The Viet Street Food Company, Patty Macs, Waffle Shack or Four Three Pizza.

All of these restaurants offer something different, and a decent meal doesn’t cost a leg and a leg – for those with a sweet tooth, waffles are less than £4, while Patty Macs are £6 Sterling hamburger.

Vietnamese Street Foods can cook up delicious pho bowls for just £11, while side dishes like spring rolls and dumplings are just £5.50.

Once you’ve picked your food, follow the road to the waterfront and take a stroll along the boardwalk together – how romantic!
