Celebrating Valentine’s Day with loved ones this year comes at a high cost.

As part of News 12’s Deep Dive poll questions, viewers were asked: How are you going to celebrate?

In New York City, especially in the Bronx and Brooklyn, 50 percent said they would go all out.

In Westchester, however, things were different: 79% said they didn’t celebrate.

That’s the same answer from Long Island, where a majority (67%) said they don’t celebrate.

So what are the big projects that make this holiday more expensive this year?

“If you’re going to spend this Valentine’s Day, you’re going to spend more, and Americans should be planning to spend more,” said Investopedia’s Caleb Silver. “Valentine’s Day spending will reach $23.9 billion, and if you go all out Go for it, that’s about $175 per person, which means pretty much everything you spend on Valentine’s Day is going to be more expensive if you go all out. Let’s start with rising beef prices, which are up $62 in the Northeast More than 1/2%. A dozen up 54%, diamonds up 14.9%, a box of chocolates up 9% if you stick with it. Wine, a bottle of red, a bottle of white, if you’re drinking champagne, average That’s about 2.5% more than last year.”

However, Silver said there are some items couples can make deals this Valentine’s Day.

“Well, gold and silver prices are down a lot from earlier this year. They’re sky-high prices, and they’re down a lot now,” he said.
