Small florist service owned by black women gets many Valentine’s Day orders

Raleigh, N.C. (WTVD) — Infinite Flowers, a Raleigh-based flower business, received a flood of orders on Valentine’s Day. But unlike larger commercial florists, owner Sharita Green runs her one-person business with the help of a delivery driver. Now, she says, she’s been busy.

“All day. We open at 5:30, so as you can imagine, they start at 5:29. I got the call early,” Green said. “My hair is still on my head, so I’m fine right now. I might get an hour of sleep, but I really don’t think it works. I love flowers, I just love the way they make me feel, I just want to put It’s passed on to others.”

After moving to Raleigh from Elizabeth City, Green started small. But she has some big plans and a lot to do between now and Monday. Browse her website for a selection of floral gifts, including a handcrafted floral bear for $109. While she’ll make a handsome profit if she sells everything available on Valentine’s Day, in her rearview mirror she has more business opportunities to be ready by Monday.

“You never know. Someone has a relative who is dying or breaking up,” Green said. “Someone’s in the kennel. I get a lot of calls like this, and I’m here to kick them out!”

Green is poised to bring more smiles, hugs and kisses to her customers, long after the scent of her Valentine’s Day flower order wears off.
