A 41-year-old woman, named after she was found stabbed to death at her south-east London home on Valentine’s Day, was stabbed to death with a single stab, police said today.
‘Beautiful’ Naomi Hunte, 41, was pronounced dead in her flat on the edge of a large Woolwich estate on Monday night, neighbours claim they heard a screams of a woman.
Joy Oga, 34, who lives in the block, paid tribute to Naomi, saying: “She’s beautiful, but her beauty is overshadowed by all the problems she’s had.
“It’s heartbreaking to hear something like this happening here.
“I couldn’t sleep last night, I was just thinking about it. It’s not safe to live here.
At 8.30pm, officers encountered at a large three-storey apartment block in Congleton Grove are believed to have broken down her door to gain access.
Naomi was pronounced dead at the scene and a murder investigation has been launched, but no arrests have been made.
A post-mortem report confirmed she died from a single stab wound.

Neighbors claimed police said she may have been lying there for days.
Andrew, 59, who lives in the block but doesn’t want to be recognized, said: “I know her. She has a lot of different boyfriends.
“I’ve never seen her in work clothes. I haven’t seen her in the morning either, and I don’t think she has a job and no kids.
“The night she died, her screams were heard and the police went in. They broke in and found her with injuries.”
NHS worker Borbor Lamin Kabia, 62, told the Evening Standard: “She is very pretty.”
“The woman’s next of kin have been notified,” a Metropolitan Police spokesman said today.
Another neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: “I don’t know her very well but I think her name is Naomi. I don’t know.
“We’ll chat for a while and say hi to each other, but we’re not friends.”
Another resident added: “I know she’s a black woman and she lives here, but that’s all I know about her. She doesn’t have children.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said today: “The woman’s next of kin have been informed.
“While awaiting official identification, police can identify the deceased as Naomi Hunte, 41, from Greenwich.
“Homicide detectives from the Professional Crime Unit are investigating.
“No arrests have been made so far and detectives continue to work to determine the circumstances of Naomi’s murder.”
