New York man dies after being knocked to the ground during Valentine’s Day robbery

A man died from his injuries after being knocked to the ground during a video of a violent robbery in Queens on Valentine’s Day, police said Tuesday.

Jose Luis Figueroa, 38, was approached by a stranger on the corner of Jamaica Avenue and 132nd Street in Kew Gardens at around 8 p.m. on February 14, before he was suddenly pushed over On the ground – causing him to hit his head and go unconscious, police said.

A day after the attack, video released by the NYPD showed the suspect pushing Figueroa near the curb and knocking him onto the sidewalk.

The thief, who appeared to be between the ages of 30 and 40, then rummaged in the victim’s pocket – stealing unspecified “personal property,” police said.

Figueroa, of Harlem, was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in critical condition and died of his injuries five days later, police said.

Authorities said the incident had been ruled a homicide.

As of Tuesday, no arrests had been made.
