Need a Valentine’s Day gift?Help Florida Police Send Your Ex to Jail

Port Orange, FL – With the love month approaching, the opposite must be true for the brokenhearted.

For the somber crowd who happen to live in Port Orange, their local police department offers them a chance to potentially return to their pre-Valentine’s Day in a less fun way – jail time.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the Port Orange Police Department used a Valentine’s Day word game to encourage people to report a former partner who failed to execute a search warrant.

“This special month-long Valentine’s Day campaign begins with a set of limited-edition platinum bracelets, free chauffeured transfers, at least one night of luxury accommodation and professional glamour photos that will be posted online for all to enjoy,” the department said.

The post ends with a phone number, 386-248-1777, listed on the department’s website as its non-emergency number.

However, this is not a new idea. As suggested in the post, Port Orange police are indeed “joining police departments across the country,” copy-pasted call-to-action.

News outlets reported more or less the same social media posts by state police departments in Louisiana, Georgia and Missouri, to name a few. The latter example, provided by the Granby Police Department, admits the truth:

β€œWe copied this from a sheriff in eastern North Carolina. Looks like a great plan,” Granby police said.

Mentioned was the Nash County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina, which went viral last year (at least among state law enforcement) as the alleged originator of last year’s lighthearted “Valentine’s Day Special” post.
