‘Moving Love’ showcases Valentine’s Day celebrations

When SM’s regional operations manager Kristin Seno asked members of Cebu Artists Inc. (CAI) if they could host an art show at The Northwing, the members readily agreed, provided it would be an art show with a purpose.

In response, the art exhibition “Moving Love” opened on February 11 to raise funds for Typhoon Odette survivors in Poblacion Occidental, Cebu City’s Comfort District. For CAI members, the exhibition is a fitting way to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

At the opening of the exhibition, SM Mall Manager Marilu Kunisala welcomed the artists and guests. Consolation Mayor Joannes Alegado, Arts Patron Dr. Vicente Avanzado, Danny Rayos del Sol of the National Council of Culture and Arts (who came to Cebu to distribute water purifiers to typhoon victims), Cebu Arts Coordinator Laurie Boquiren and Chocolate Queen Raquel Choa Ritual Ribbon.

Artists participating in this exhibition are Jonathan Abellana, Lida Marie Aguilar, Leodito Bongo III, Methuzael Carredo, Cesar Castillo, Georgina Castillo, Romeo Cortez, Jr., Joseph Cristobal, Adeste Deguilmo, Reynan Dingal, Jess Dinglasa, John Dinglasa, Jun Impas , Joseph Ong, Renulo Pautan, Celso Pepito, Fe Madrid Pepito, Ruel Rosello, Lucilo Sagayno, Antonio Vidal, Marlone Ylanan and Sonia Yrastorza.

To bring art closer to the people, CAI artists will be doing live portraiture over the weekend and live painting at the exhibition grounds (Northwing Entrance Hall) on 26th, 27th and 28th February. and in the second-floor lobby of its administrative offices). They will be painting in oil or acrylic and all artworks completed at these events will be included in the exhibition at attractive prices to encourage art-loving audiences to start collecting and to raise more money for typhoon survivors , typhoon survivors will receive roofing materials: GI sheets and umbrella pegs.

As Mayor Alegado hopes, this partnership between SM and CAI will raise enough money to help his constituents, whose homes were almost completely destroyed by Typhoon Odette.
