Love is in the air at these Valentine’s Day events in North Texas


Swap out these roses for one or more fun things to do over the Valentine’s weekend. You can enjoy V-Day with a lover, friends, or all of your puffy selves. Some activities take place outdoors, so please check the weather for any changes before you go.

“LOVE AT LEGACY WEST” pop-up installation

Smile and take pictures at this floral installation at Legacy West. Valentine’s themed backdrops open for free selfies all month, or pre-order a pro mini shoot on February 14 from 6-8pm Legacy West’s other Valentine’s pop-ups include at Sand and Soil Flower Truck (February 12-13) , noon to 4 p.m.), Latin American-inspired sweets and desserts from Maravilla Cacao (February 12, noon to 4 p.m.) and Kids Club DIY Valentine’s Day Card Craft (February 12, noon) to 3 p.m. point). “EL CORAZĂ“N” exhibition in the bathroom

This marks the 27th year of “El CorazĂłn,” an exhibition curated by Jose Vargas featuring a variety of works by North Texas artists. All works are inspired by the human mind. An opening reception is planned for February 12, including music and more.

Opening reception at the Bathroom Cultural Center, 521 E. Lawther Drive, Dallas, through March 12, Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 6 pm, and February 12 from 5 to 8 pm. free.

Valentine’s Day at the Reunion Tower

Music and magic are performed on the observation deck of the Reunion Tower. Saxophonist Alex Styer will create a romantic atmosphere every night from February 11-14. Magician Grant Price will also be on deck on February 14. If you want to ask questions from 470 feet above the street, book the Love in the Air package on February 13-14. If you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, you can still look up after dark to see the twinkling lights on the Reunion Tower Ball.

Champagne, Chocolate and Comedy

For an easier look at love, laugh with Paul Varghese and Linda Stogner and more of Backdoor’s favorite comics. Love after running races/walks and parties

Get a healthy start to the weekend with a 5K run, 10K run or family fun walk through Las Colinas before heading back to Texas Lottery Plaza for a beer and pancakes after the party. The event benefits the Irving School Foundation.

Chocolate and Wine Tour

Stroll through downtown McKinney and enjoy a day of wine and chocolate tasting and shopping with participating merchants. Your timed general admission ticket includes a souvenir wine glass, 10 wine samples and four chocolate samples. Plus, extra treats await at Lone Star Cellars (103 E. Virginia St., McKinney).

Just Grandscape’s Girls Festival

Spend an afternoon with a group of girls for wine tastings, waffle bars, massages and DIY ideas at Grandscape’s shops and restaurants. There will be shopping, pop-ups, live music and swag bags.

RICKI DEREK Valentine’s Day Fashion Show

Crooner Ricki Derek will deliver romance in two classic nights by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Bobby Darin and more. The February 12th show at Legacy Hall opens at 7pm, and a spin on the dance floor is strongly encouraged. Standing room and reserved table reservations are still available at press time. On Valentine’s Day, Derek is back for a show at the Granada Theatre at 8pm.
