Roses are red / violets are blue / gingerbread is Christmas / isn’t it? Here’s what I’ve always known: Gingerbread houses are something you assemble, decorate, and chew on for a few weeks in December, and then throw away the old walls left in the compost. But now I think everything I know about gingerbread houses is changing, and it’s all thanks to Kardashian-Jenners.

This year, some members of the Kardashian family are taking a step back from rose-covered floors and inexplicable Kenny G appearances in favor of a classic… gingerbread house to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Gone are the traditional V-Day treats. chocolate? We don’t know her! The heart of conversation? goodbye. This year, it’s all about personalized gingerbread houses. To what purpose? I’m not sure.

Kris Jenner, Kylie Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian have all shared their beautifully decorated gingerbread houses on Instagram. Each of them has little gingerbread men, women and children (including newborn Wolf Webster’s baby), tailored to each family unit. Kardashian, for example, features her and fiancé Travis Buck and their children: Mason, Penelope, Reindiske and Atiana De La Hoya, Landon Buck and Alabama Buck . Their names are frozen on large heart-shaped shingles fastened to the roof. Meanwhile, Kelly bought one for her, Travis Scott and their children Stormy and Wolf Webster. (And, of course, the sisters also shared footage of their home being covered in a giant bouquet of roses.) Meanwhile, Chris has all of her grandchildren in the photo.

The houses appear to be from Solvang Bakery, which has been making exquisite custom gingerbread houses for years. (Khloé Kardashian even seems to have given Kim Zolciak-Biermann a gift in 2017.) And they didn’t just stop at Valentine’s Day. Solvang Bakery also sells Hanukkah gingerbread houses, Easter gingerbread houses, birthday gingerbread houses, and even a Halloween-themed gingerbread house. It’s available in all sizes, from giant “manor houses” priced as high as $1,450 to small “cabanas” priced from $225 to $275. You can’t put a price on love, but you can certainly put a price on a personalized gingerbread house.

I’m not sure I’m here to decorate a gingerbread house as a Valentine’s Day dessert, but if it’s good enough for the Kardashians, it’s good enough for me.

keep in touch.
