Hug alerts go into effect this Valentine’s Day

Roanoke, Virginia – Happy Valentine’s Day/Singles Promotion Day! I’m not sure how to get out of this situation, but let’s get started.

We started the morning with some scattered gusts and snow showers, mostly west of the main road. Other than what some of us saw on Sunday, that might make things smooth.

The wind also adds a little extra breath to the air. This will be the case all day Monday with gusts of 20-30 mph.

High temperatures only reach the 30s in the mountains and around 40-45° elsewhere in the afternoon.

If you’re planning a date night, be sure to bundle up! Temperatures will be in the mid-30s, with a breeze at times.

Valentine’s Day Date Night Preview

We started on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings in the 20s, with daily highs mostly in the 40s. By Wednesday afternoon, warm air was climbing up the Southside, while the rest of us were still “wedged” under some cooler air and clouds.

We’ll be tracking a powerful storm system Thursday that will produce severe weather in parts of the Deep South and the Tennessee Valley. Until then, we’ll see highs in the 60s late Thursday (probably the 70s Southside).

The warmth continued into Friday morning as the rain wore on. There could be some stronger storms east of Park Avenue Thursday night.

Weather effects from Thursday to Friday (2/17 to 2/18/2022)

Once the storm has passed, the cold air will come in on Friday. We might start the day in the 50s and 60s, but see afternoon temperatures in the 40s and 50s.

Weekends look great, though, reaching the 50s every day.
