Fond to host final Valentine’s Day dinner after official closure in December

💕

Fond—the French-influenced American bistro that helped put East Passyunk Avenue on the destination dining map more than a decade ago—never got an official goodbye.

Chef-owners Lee Styer and Jessie Prawlucki-Styer are under pressure due to issues and uncertainty related to the pandemic (Lee is in the kitchen most of the time), so it closed in December 2021. This spring, the space at 11th and Tasker Streets, across from the Singing Fountain, will be home to The Dutch, their current Pennsport brunch spot.

The couple chose not to host any farewell dinners – instead serving only cocktails and snacks at the bar on New Year’s Eve. But omicron put kibosh on it. (For that matter, omicron forced the cancellation of the Noord finale on Dec. 28, and the BYOB across the street will soon give way to a new restaurant called Mish Mish.)

Now word is out that the Styers will have a grand finale on Valentine’s Day — $500 per couple with wine pairings. Only seating will be limited to 18 guests, and the chef’s table is available for parties of 4 to 6. Booking via email.
