STEM consultant Kim Thompson hosts special events for elementary schools. She reports, “Bonseton Elementary School students celebrated Valentine’s Day with STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) activities. Students put together a 5-foot-tall Valentine’s Day puzzle, built objects using heart-shaped fondant and toothpicks, and watched about Demonstrations of hearts, and flying paper airplanes. At the end of the event, they decorated heart-shaped cookies baked by Sheila Black’s home and consumer science students.”

The Bunceton/Prairie Home Lady Dragons played two more games before the regionals. Coach Chris Herriman reports: “We played in Tuscumbia on Tuesday 15th February. It was the most physical game of the year. Luckily we made it without injury. Alexia Hein scored 20 points. Laney Heilman and Paiton Williams had six points each. Madison Brown had 21. We just couldn’t shoot.” The final score was Tuscumbia 68, Bunceton 43. Herriman continued: “We had to move our Jamestown game forward to Wednesday, February 16 due to snow. We played our best game of the year despite the long time. Road trip the night before and Tough fight. Riley Zimmerman scored 2, Paiton Williams and Laney Heilman scored 5. Alexia Hein scored a career-high 14 and defended Jamestown’s best player in 3 quarters. Alexia here Great improvement over the year. Madison Brown led the team with 23 points. At the end we just ran out of gas.” Jamestown ended up with 57 over Bonseton’s 49.
