Affordable and Fun Valentine’s Weekend Plans

February is the season of love, and there’s no better gift than making great memories with your loved ones. Your quality time with a lover, gal-entine or family will last longer and taste better than any last-minute box of chocolates you grabbed at the store. Mercer University is hosting arts and cultural events to suit all occasions and budgets this Valentine’s Day weekend, so you’ll be able to treat your sweet with delicious surprises.

Macon Music Project Art Exhibition

DSTO Moore’s Macon Music Project

If you’re looking for an easily accessible and completely free event on campus, check out The Macon Music Project, DSTO Moore’s photo exhibition opening February 11 at the Frances Sewell Plunkett Gallery in Hardman Hall and featuring artists A special Kickoff Reception from 5:30-7:30pm The gallery’s regular hours are 9am-5pm Monday-Friday, and the exhibition will remain open until March 4th.

Moore is a self-taught photographer from the Pleasant Hill community of Macon who aims to inspire a more positive attitude in his audience through his visionary style of portraiture. The Macon Music Project will feature lesser-known locals who shined during the heyday of Southern rock and soul in Macon, as well as torchbearers who make music for a new generation today. This is a great exhibit for all ages, including children, and I recommend going with a group of friends.
