Adorable Valentine’s Day Preview; Storm Threatens Thursday

💕

Baton Rouge, Louisiana (WAFB) – Monday’s Valentine’s Day will be a delightful weather forecast. The sky will remain mostly clear with some high clouds streaming overhead. Rain gear is not required for any outdoor plans you might have, and the temperature will be in the mid-60s on Monday afternoon. If you have evening plans, you may need a jacket as temperatures will drop by 50°s.

Temperatures will start to warm up over the next two days as we await a cold front on Thursday.

Highs will be in the mid-70s on Tuesday and mid-70s on Wednesday. But Thursday’s cold front will change that, with the first warning giving early warning of the potential for severe storms.

Mostly clear skies tonight will see temperatures in Baton Rouge slip into the 30s and above before dawn on Tuesday.

The day was mostly sunny on Tuesday, with a little breeze in the afternoon, with the high temperature climbing to around 70° in Red Stick.

The weather turned warmer on Wednesday, with highs in the 70s to over 70s across most of WAFB. Cloud cover will increase throughout Wednesday, with isolated to scattered showers arriving in the second half of the day ahead of Thursday’s cold front.

Thursday’s front could see some severe storms during the day: The NWS Storm Prediction Centre (SPC) has placed much of the WAFB region at a “minor risk” (a score of 5 on a 2-threat scale) of severe storms ahead of the advancing front system).

The front is expected to pass through the area during the day, bringing widespread rainfall of 0.5 inches to 1.5 inches, with higher localized rainfall. In addition, it will get cooler behind the front: Thursday’s high was in the 70°s, and Friday’s high was only in the mid-to-upper 50°s.

The weekend remains dry and sunny, with a low 60°s high on Saturday followed by partly cloudy skies and a high 60°s high on Sunday. In the extended outlook, sporadic rain is expected next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (February 21-23).

Tuesday dawn was mostly clear and cold, with temperatures around the Red Rod in the 30s to 30s.
