A couple tie the knot at a private airport in Harrison County on New Year’s Day
Gulfport, Miss Woollox – New Year’s Day can be a tough time to get motivated to do a lot of anything other than watching football. But for a married couple, it’s time to make a life-changing decision: marriage.
Just hours before his wedding, Joshua Giorgio still needed repairs to make their temporary home.
“I wanted to make sure Lee and Hana had a house to live in after the wedding,” he said.
An Air Force pilot from Pennsylvania and his now wife, Hannah of Hattiesburg, will use a refurbished Airstream buggy on their flights to his first base in California.
A little funky, but this is the day and venue of their wedding: on New Year’s Day and at a private airport in Harrison County.
Hannah, who just graduated from Southern Miss School, said New Year’s Day wasn’t the original target date, but the timing was perfect for the couple and their families.
“That was one of the only days we knew he wouldn’t have to work, and most of his fellow army mates will too,” she said. “So, they’re going to be able to make that happen with the holidays and everything.”
But this does not mean that the importance of the day they chose to make the final commitment for life was lost on them.
“A lot of people were like, ‘Oh, my God, this is close to the holidays?'” This seems really stressful. But, I mean, I think it’s really cool because we love ringing in the New Year as a couple. So, I think it’s really cool. We will never forget our wedding anniversary. its very easy. “
For Joshua, it would have long-term meaning.
“The wedding day will be kind of a reminder for us every year to start over,” he said. “And that will mean a little more in the new year every year.”
