3 Quick Wishes for New Year’s Eve at Seattle Seahawks in 2022
The Seattle Seahawks haven’t had a very good 2021 season, but New Years is a time of new beginnings, so here are three wishes for that.
The Seahawks are 5-10 (hard to believe) and won’t be in the playoffs this year. But over the past decade, they’ve been very, very good. Could 2021 be a bad one-off season? 2022 could be a lot better with a bit more health and better luck.
But Seattle needs to make some changes this season to be better next year. Some of these changes are part of my three New Year’s Eve wishes for a better 2022 Seattle city.
Wishes for a New Year’s Eve Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks hire Josh Heupel to be offensive coordinator
Josh Hebel has never coached or played in the NFL. I dont care. Heupel does what every great coach does: He has a great idea of what a chart should look like but he also uses the players he has to get the best out of the player and the chart. Heubel does not plan what the defense might do with his crimes; His crimes dictate the gameplay.
Heupel is currently the head coach at the University of Tennessee, but has been successful in whatever school he’s been in. He wants his crimes to go at 3 per minute. But his scheme isn’t just about speed; His designs exploit the weakness of defense design. Seattle needs an offensive coordinator who knows how to do this and whether it’s college or pro, Heupel will know how to do it. He is so smart.
Seahawks hire Kris Richard to return as defensive coordinator
Seattle got Chris Richards wrong, let’s be real. Seattle had an excellent defense under Richard until a lot of good players got injured and then the latter half of 2017 wasn’t that good. But Richard was then directing a lot of backups. Tell any other coach before they lose a lot of key players, “We think you’re a good coach but we’ll fire you if you lose your best players to injury” and that coach might really tell you where to take your opinion.
Pete Carol needs to do two things. First, he shoots Ken Norton Jr. and second, he immediately calls Richard and apologizes for the way he was treated and asks him to come back as DC. Richard’s players love to play with him and he has a great idea of how to behave aggressively. Seattle misses that aggressiveness.
Rashad Bini remains healthy throughout the 2022 season
Rashad Bini has been mostly good in his Seahawks career. when. correct. But he was mostly not healthy. However, he has been healthy and in great form quite late in 2021. There is no real comeback in Seattle in 2022 as there is no guarantee that Chris Carson will be healthy enough to play next year.
Benny, though, if Healthy, could be better than Carson’s. Penny has a lot of power, like Carson, but faster than Carson. Penny has a greater ability to compose explosive plays. If Penny is healthy and Seattle re-signs him to a team friend’s contract, Penny could be in the top ten in 2022.
