It’s February, love is in the air, and Valentine’s Day is on Monday (shhh!), which doesn’t mean you can’t spend some time with your sweetheart doing fun things before the holidays. For those who are single, there are plenty of events and activities to attend. Who knows, you might meet your perfect Mr. or Miss, or even find a good friend.

Check out these 19 events taking place around the Greeley, Loveland and NoCo areas during the week of February 5-11, 2022.

Saturday, February 5

1. The High Plains Environmental Center’s monthly Bird Belt and Walk is scheduled for 9:00 am at 2698 Bluestem Willow Drive, Loveland. Attendees will be able to watch a demonstration of bird strapping by Scott Rashid, director of the Colorado Center for Bird Research and Rehabilitation. Depending on the number of birds, participants may also hold the bird before it is released. The walking tour will be hosted by experienced bird watcher Sheila Webb. 2. G Town Throwdown 2 will take place at 1 p.m. at Island Grove Regional Park, 501 N 14th Avenue, a US-sanctioned amateur boxing match. Weigh-in times are from 8 am to 10 am, with the first bell at 1 pm. Admission is $15 per person. For more information, please call (970) 373-8711.

4. Calling all avid readers and thriller fans! John A. Daly’s “Restitution” book launch will be held at The Kress Cinema and Lounge at 817 8th Avenue at 6 p.m. The book is the fifth in Daly’s Sean Coleman thriller series, and Daly will be on hand to meet attendees and sign copies of the book. Sunday, February 6

5. The Boulder Dixieland Jazz Festival will be held at the Avalon Ballroom, 6185 Arapahoe Road, Boulder at 1pm. The theme of the concert is Love in the Air – Love in Jazz, with Lance Christensen leading the band. Admission is $8 for Boulder Friends of Jazz members, $10 for non-members, and $2 for students. 6. Celebrate the start of the Winter Games in a different way at the 2022 Beer Olympics – a party game tournament hosted by Wiley Roots at 1 p.m. at 625 3rd St. Greeley. Participants can compete in water table tennis and darts for a chance to win gift cards and free beer. There is no fee for the contest, and the event is open to adults 21 and older. 7. Join WeldWerks Brewing Co. and Kress Cinema for a special screening of “Before Sunrise” at 7pm at the theatre at 817 8th Ave. Attendees can enjoy specialty beers and socialize with theater and brewery staff during the event. 8. The UNC University Symphony Orchestra will perform at 7:30 p.m. under the direction of Dr. Russell Guyver of Campus Commons, 1021 22nd Street. The concert is the first of 2022 and welcomes all ages. Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for seniors 65 and older, $8 for non-UNC students, and $5 for UNC students with a school ID. Thursday, February 10

9. Turn your old ceramic pieces into new works of art at All-Levels Adult Art Class: Repurposed Ceramics at the Loveland Museum at 1 p.m. At the Beet Education Center, 201 E. 5th St., Loveland. Bring any ceramic piece from home and instructor Pat Saunders-White will teach you how to change its appearance with alcohol ink. This class is open to guests 16 and older and includes all supplies and instruction. $50 per person for non-museum members and $40 per person for museum members. 10. The Twilight Museum is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Greeley Historical Museum at 714 8th Street. 12. The University of Northern Colorado’s School of Performing and Visual Arts begins production of “These Shining Lives” at the Norton Theater at 1828 10th Avenue, Gray Hall, at 7:30 pm. The story is set in the 1920s about women working for the Radium Dial Company and their lawsuits against the company. The work is rated PG in some adult situations. Friday, February 11

13. Weekend starts at Sweetheart Chocolate and Beer Pairing in the Desk and Chair Work Area, 201 Loveland E. 4th St., from 4-8pm. Attendees will taste three beers from local breweries, as well as three chocolates from Loveland Chocolate. The event will also feature live music. 15. Dinner with Chris Dickinson at Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch, 31D N Loveland Road, 2939, 6pm, while admiring some stunning western photography.
