14 things to do near you February 11-13

At Spectrum News Maine, we want to be your community contact. Whether you’re a local or just visiting Maine, there’s sure to be something to do near youโ€”it’s a “vacation destination” after all.

With the Super Bowl on Sunday and Valentine’s Day on Monday, you might feel the urge to find the perfect gift for your special someone – don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

Throw away the heart-shaped assorted chocolate box and plan an experience your partner won’t forget. From outdoor activities to romantic dinners, there’s sure to be an event near you to wow your sweetheart.

In the spirit of the 14th, there are 14 holiday-themed events in Maine this weekend:

US Bobsleigh National Championships
February 11-13 at Camden Snow Bowl
Bring your sled partner and head to Camden for a lively weekend of activities. Whether you ride the slides or not, this will be a weekend to remember. With music, food, crazy costumes and more, see why people from all over the world head to the Central Coast for this annual event. While there is no charge for spectators, parking on the hill costs $10. Avoid the traffic and save money by taking the shuttle bus from Camden city center to Snow Bowl. Pickup and drop off at Village Green. For the full schedule of events, click here.

Paint and Sip: Couples Night
7-9:30 pm Muse Paintbar in Portland
This is my favorite date night idea – so much fun. Sip and paint an evening with your partner or favorite galentine under the guidance of a Muse artist. This Friday’s couples night, you’ll learn how to paint half of an emerald night scene that will (hopefully) piece together perfectly with your partner’s half. No drawing experience required – in fact, it’s more fun that way. Buy tickets online in advance.

I (heart) mini session
Soggy Dog Designs in Bath from 10am to 4pm
Forget cheesy iPhone selfies and book professional photos with your sweetheart. 25 minutes for couples meetings, or 15 minutes for solo shoots. If your four-legged friend is your lover, good news – you can bring your pet too! Serious, goofy, gloomy – whatever you like, this is sure to be an experience. To secure your time slot, click here.
